"A rumour without a leg to stand on will get around some other way."John Tudor.
It's a cloudy morning and we had a few spots of rain earlier. It's set to continue like this for the rest of the week and maybe we shall have some more rain which we need. We have had a good morning with the horses mainly cantering on the farm canter and all has gone well.
There is a big article in the Racing Post on the whip once again. This time it comes from one of our younger trainers in Newmarket, Charlie Fellowes, and his take on the whip is exactly the same as mine. He states his first Ascot winner should have been disqualified as he thinks the whip rules in this country are wrong and that the penalty should be disqualification. The whole article is very well worth reading and its conclusion is 100% right.
I see the racecourse chief executive has stated he is frustrated and disappointed over the decision to reduce the fixture list by 20 meetings, but the old adage,“He would say that wouldn’t he”, springs to mind. The racecourses are in a constant battle to have more meetings, but the fact is the problem will just keep getting worse until we get more centralised racing and cut all the travelling out. The horsemen, ie. jockeys trainers and stable staff, are now so overstretched that there is no way the fixture list can be expanded without someone suffering .
