An early start to the day

It’s a very wet start to the day, in fact we have had a tremendous amount of rain overnight. There were some very unusual puddles on the road as I drove in this morning at half past four. We have plenty of staff in today and I have just been kicking on with everything and all has been out and exercised. It’s all gone well so far.

Becky and her team working hard

We have one runner today and one runner tomorrow and that will be it until after Christmas. We will then only have a couple between Christmas and the New Year. Altered Method may run at Southwell on the 29th and Babochoff is a possibility at Warwick on the 31st.

Our runner today is Astrojewel at Southwell in the seven furlong handicap. It looked too far for her on her reappearance at Chelmsford recently, after quite an absence, and we have dropped her back in trip today on a completely different surface. She has always shown us ability and let’s hope she takes to the fibresand today, but as racing professionals know the surface there is an acquired taste. It’s a bit like marmite, you either like it or you don’t. On Saturday Pageant Master runs at Lingfield in the Novice Auction race over a mile. He has already had a run at Lingfield where he got a bit unbalanced on the hill, and let’s hope he will have learnt from that experience and be in with a shout in this type of race.
